EJ Mascaro Memorial Fire Training Weekend Coming to Pawleys Island - October 18-20, 2024

The EJ Mascaro Memorial Training Weekend has moved from Charleston to Pawleys Island! The training weekend will be hosted by Midway Fire Rescue and Georgetown City Fire Department. The training weekend is conducted by the fire training group On Scene Training Associates (OSTA) led by Aaron Heller, a retired Deputy Fire Chief from Hamilton Division of Fire, NJ. EJ Mascaro was killed in an off duty motor vehicle accident in 2017. EJ was a firefighter with North Charleston, SC Fire Department and a decorated US Army war veteran serving 2 1/2 tours in Iraq, fighting in Fallujah he received the purple heart, Bronze Star, and the Presidential Citation. EJ was an avid fire instructor and loved to train students in firefighting techniques so that they became better firefighters. He taught at the largest firefighter training conference in the world, the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC), held in Indianapolis every year. Firefighters from all over the country will be traveling to Pawleys Island to train in the most current firefighting techniques in honor of EJ and enjoying what our beautiful area has to offer!
