It is with the greatest sadness that we inform you of the death this afternoon of Midway Fire Rescue firefighter/EMT Daniel Roy. Daniel was just 29. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He was involved in a motorcycle crash on March 16. He succumbed to his injuries this afternoon.

The following is a statement from Midway Fire Rescue:

It is with extreme sadness that Midway Fire Rescue informs you that Firefighter/EMT Daniel Roy passed away this afternoon as a result of injuries sustained in a vehicle crash on March 16, 2019. We ask you to continue to keep the members of the Roy Family, and the members of Midway Fire Rescue in your thoughts and prayers.

Firefighter/EMS Daniel Roy, a beloved member of “C” Shift, was 29 years old. Born in McDonough, GA., Daniel proudly served Midway Fire Rescue for 2 Years, joining our department after working with the Henry County Fire Department. He was also a veteran of the US Air Force.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Doctors, Nurses, and Staff at Grand Strand Medical Center for their compassionate and professional care. The Roy Family and our organization appreciates the outpouring of support from the members and staffs of Midway Fire Rescue, Horry County Fire Rescue, Myrtle Beach Fire Department, North Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue, Conway Fire Department, Surfside Beach Fire Department, Murrells Inlet-Garden City Fire District, Georgetown County Fire/EMS Department, Georgetown City Fire Department, and the countless others who supported the family and our collective membership during this past week.
