Water Rescue Team Assists with Humanitarian Aid
Today at approximately 11:00 AM, Midway Fire Rescue Water Rescue Team was requested by Georgetown County Emergency Management Agency to assist with providing supplies to the impacted areas along the Santee River where residents are stranded by swift rising water. Midway Fire Rescue responded with an Zodiac boat and a crew of three. The crews provided initial reconnaissance of the area. Once they confirmed the area could be safely accessed, the crews made sure the citizens were alright and gave them supplies provided by multiple agencies. The crews were out for about four hours.
