MFR Welcomes New Probationary Firefighters
On Monday, Midway Fire Rescue started four new probationary firefighters. The members started the process months ago by submitting an application which was reviewed once positions opened up. Each qualified member is invited to Midway Fire Rescue for an interview and a physical agility course. Once the initial process is completed, the applicant will be contacted and schedule a pre-employment physical and given a start date. Once the probationary members start, they will be put through one week of day work familiarizing themselves with Midway Fire Rescue. This first week will include administrative processing, apparatus familiarization, pulling hose lines, SCBA familiarization, medical knowledge, throwing ladders, and basic firefighting knowledge. This prepares the new probationary members for their shift work starting the following week. The probation period for each member is six months where each firefighter will be challenged by written and practical testing and then checked off as a Midway Fire Rescue Firefighter/EMT or Firefighter/Paramedic.
We welcome our new probationary firefighters to MFR and to the best job in the world.
